It's a big 'un: Due to being jam-packed with awesome content such as the new battle type and sounds updates, the file size for version 0.6.6 will be 3.8Gb! To support the new game mode, we had to introduce both of these changes at the same time. We don't want to fry your bandwidth, so we are not planning such heavy updates in the future unless there is a pressing need. We know a heavy patch can take some time to download, so we've created a mission to let you earn a free day of Premium Account to lighten the load! From 9-16 June, earn one day of Premium Account for winning one battle of any type in any Tier V+ ship (Please note, this mission is once per account)!
In Update 0.6.6, we introduce a new game mode – the Scenario Mode. This game mode will include four Operations upon its release. These operations will each offer unique tasks for the players to try. Three of these Operations will be played on brand new maps specifically developed for this mode. These Scenario mode battles will be conducted with teams of seven players facing AI opponents. Scenario battles will each follow a certain battle scenario and include random events affecting gameplay. This mode will be available if you have a Service Record Level 8 or higher, and will be available for Tier V and VI ships only. Along with the aforementioned rules, each Operation will have specific restrictions on the number of same-type warships that can enter the same battle—for example, if three battleships in a division have already pressed the "Ready" button, the fourth battleship will be unable to do so. The limits are the following:
The battle type selection menu has received a new interface. The "Scenarios" mode icon displays the last selected Operation or the Operation of the Week, if you haven't already selected any other scenario. To switch between Operations, press the "Other Operations" button.
Operation "Defense of Naval Station Newport" will be the first Operation to be available upon version 0.6.6's release. Access to the remaining operations will be granted in running order (each locked operation will display the date of its activation) and become the "Operation of the Week" until the next Operation has been unlocked. The player can complete the unlocked Scenarios again, but only as a member of an Extended Division (up to seven players).
If you want to start the battle right away without assembling a Division, take the following steps to participate in an Operation:
If you wish to play the Scenario Mode together with your friends, you can assemble a special Division. In this case you'll need a special Extended Division that allows up to seven players to take part in one battle. Take these steps to play in an Extended Division:
Groups of friends and those who like real challenges can play other operations of their choice if they have been unlocked. To do that, take the following steps:
If you selected the Operation of the Week and if the "do not complete team" option is disabled, the Matchmaker will complete the team. If your Division consists of 4 players or more, all modes except for Scenario Mode will become unavailable until your Division has 3 players at the most.
Each Operation includes main tasks and additional tasks.
The amount of XP and credits also depends on the number of earned stars and your personal battle performance.
On average, your earnings will exceed those typically received in Co-op Battles but will be lower than the earnings received in Random Battles.
Operations offer their own commemorative Achievements and Medals:
Have a certain amount of allied ships survive in operations. Only victorious battles are counted:
Destroy a certain amount of key ships and auxiliary ships in operations:
Complete a certain amount of tasks in operations:
Successfully complete a certain amount of operations:
|Sea Star||Complete the operation and all secondary tasks, survive till the end of the battle, and cause damage exceeding 100% of your ship's HP.|
|Torpedoman||Hit enemy ships with 15 ship torpedoes in a single battle, and successfully complete the operation|
|Tactical Expertise||Successfully complete the operation by completing all secondary tasks. All players must survive|
|Assistant||Cause damage to at least half of the enemy ships and successfully complete the operation. Damage caused to each ship must amount to at least 10% of her normal HP|
|Major Contribution||Cause more than 50% of the damage dealt by your team and successfully complete the operation|
|Natural Selection||Destroy 4 ships of the same type as your ship, or 8 ships of any other type. Successfully complete the operation|
|Universal Seaman||Successfully complete an operation while playing with a ship of each type|
|Will to Win||Be the last one standing on your team, complete a secondary task, and successfully complete the operation|
|Find names and conditions for these achievements yourselves by completing them|
You will notice new interfaces in battle:
Voice communication is available for both Extended and Standard Divisions. Turn it on and configure it in the "Audio" tab. By default, voice communication is activated by pressing the "V" button.
When a battle is over, the ship you joined it with will assume the "Waiting for Order" status and will be unavailable in the Operations mode for 30 minutes. Unlocking the ship (i.e. giving it a new order) immediately costs 75,000 Credits. A 30 minute countdown starts when the operation is finished and the ship returns from the battle. This timer increases the variety of gameplay and team line-ups in battle. Only three or more Tier V-VI ships in Port is enough so that the player is not affected by the timer. By trying several ships, players will be able to choose the right ships to complete any operation with 5 stars.
In Operations, you'll find:
Two of the Operations will feature a new mechanic – the Repair Zone.
The process of delivering fire from the main battery and secondary battery at the onshore installations has been improved.
AI performance has been significantly improved. Now, the bots select targets more reasonably, they demonstrate smarter behaviour, and they can send messages in battle chat. These bots are available only in the Operations battle type, the Co-op Battle still uses the old version bots.
In Operations, friendly fire is disabled. The only way to damage an ally is by ramming. Apart from that, players' ships have a 0% chance of detonation.
This version of the game will not provide separate statistics for this mode in a player's profile.
With the introduction of the Operations mode, a new level will be added to the Service Record. It will be placed in the current progress sequence of Service Record levels under Level 8.
The reward for achieving this Service Record Level is 1,000,000 credits. The rewards for achieving the other Service Record Levels remain unchanged.
The XP amount values for achieving the proceeding levels in the Service Record have been revised. Now, the player needs to earn 3,000 XP to achieve the next level in the Service Record for the following levels: Level 5 to Level 6, Level 6 to Level 7, Level 7 to Level 8, and Level 8 to Level 9.
When update 0.6.6 is released, all players who have achieved Level 7 and above in the Service Record and those who have earned at least 7,500 XP at Level 5 in the Service Record will be given 1,000,000 credits as a reward for achieving newly introduced Level.
In other words, if players have already reached Level 14 in the Service Record, they will still be rewarded with 1,000,000 Credits.
The main advantages and disadvantages of the guns mounted on German cruisers are the great damage potential of their AP shells and the tiny damage delivered by their HE shells. In situations where you find yourself fighting against lightly-armoured targets that take damage even from a shot in the bow, or when an enemy ship has exposed her side to you, German AP shells cause devastating damage. Unlike the U.S. 203 mm shells, German APs cannot boast the same "soft" ricochet angles, and given the minor damage coming from HE shells, German cruisers are sometimes less efficient. For example, when firing at a heavy cruiser going at a 45° angle in relation to the German ship. We therefore decided to compensate for the small damage caused by HE shells by increasing their armour-penetration capability, thereby bringing German cruisers in line with other same-type ships in terms of performance. We also added some minor yet very pleasant changes to Nürnberg, Hindenburg, Emerald, and La Galissonniere.
Japanese destroyer Yūgumo used to perform a bit worse when compared to its other Tier IX counterparts. This was largely due to a limited choice of torpedoes which forced players into aggressive short-range play only. Not everyone finds this style of play comfortable. Therefore, we added "Type 93 mod. 3" torpedoes with a 12 km range to provide an option for a longer and less risky engagement range.
In update 0.6.6, we enhanced the Hydroacoustic Search consumable carried by Lo Yang. Now, it is a full-fledged attacker that is even more valuable for allies. We increased the torpedoes and ships acquisition ranges from 2.52 km to 3.75 km and from 3.48 km to 5.43 km, respectively. We also increased the torpedo range of the "533 mm Mk15 mod. 0" from 6.0 km to 6.7 km.
Fixed errors in the values attributable to deck armour thickness as follows:
Montana, Iowa and Missouri: Lowered citadel, with an upper level now nearly at waterline level to promote more active play and manoeuvre. It will now be harder to hit their citadel.
The freed space from the citadels has been occupied by casemates that increased their volume. Therefore, there was a small hit points redistribution—part of them has evenly moved from the fore and aft ends of the superstructures to the central part of the ship (casemates).
There has been an on-going issue where the ships with minor detectability would be spotted by aircraft even though the aircraft itself was out of sight. This was caused by a single plane having a shorter detectability range than an entire squadron. We came to a decision that this mechanic was excessive and now all aircraft (whether carrier squadrons, catapult-lunched fighters, or spotting aircraft) will have the same detectability range. Aside from that, aircraft detectability range was increased from 5 to 8 km (from sea) and from 4.5 to 7 km (from air).
In response to numerous requests from our players, we increased the daily limit for compliments and reports. Now, once a player has achieved a certain Karma level, their daily limit will also increase:
|Karma Level||Limit on reports and compliments|
|0 - 19||7 reports and 7 compliments|
|20 - 49||8 reports and 8 compliments|
|50 - 79||9 reports and 9 compliments|
|80 - 109||10 reports and 10 compliments|
|>110||11 reports and 11 compliments|
Once the update goes live, a respective limit of reports and compliments will be assigned to players depending on their Karma level.
We added one more report option – "Interferes with my game". The "Bot" report is gone and was replaced by "Away from keyboard/AFK" while "Assisted in chat" was changed to "Good manners".
The sound has been significantly reworked in version 0.6.6.
This new preset will be further developed and improved.
At the start of the download, players will be asked if they want to install "Ultra". If no actions are made in the launcher window, this message will disappear in one minute and the download will continue. If you have refused to install Ultra, missed the message, or would like to return to the previous sound quality, you can do so at any time in the "Main" tab in launcher settings.
For the Wargaming.net Game Centre (WGC), it will be possible to install Ultra via the settings in the World of Warships tab. To do so, please choose "ULTRA" client type in the "Game Settings" menu.
We improved the exterior appearance of Tier VIII ships using a special technology for high-quality rendering of thin elements (mostly the ships' rigging). This correction will have no effect on performance.
The following ships have been added to the game client for testing by developers, supertesters, and contributors:
Added High School Fleet collaboration ships to the game client:
