It's a big 'un: Due to being jam-packed with awesome content such as the new battle type and sounds updates, the file size for version 0.6.6 will be 3.8Gb! To support the new game mode, we had to introduce both of these changes at the same time. We don't want to fry your bandwidth, so we are not planning such heavy updates in the future unless there is a pressing need. We know a heavy patch can take some time to download, so we've created a mission to let you earn a free day of Premium Account to lighten the load! From 9-16 June, earn one day of Premium Account for winning one battle of any type in any Tier V+ ship (Please note, this mission is once per account)!

Scenario Mode

In Update 0.6.6, we introduce a new game mode – the Scenario Mode. This game mode will include four Operations upon its release. These operations will each offer unique tasks for the players to try. Three of these Operations will be played on brand new maps specifically developed for this mode. These Scenario mode battles will be conducted with teams of seven players facing AI opponents. Scenario battles will each follow a certain battle scenario and include random events affecting gameplay. This mode will be available if you have a Service Record Level 8 or higher, and will be available for Tier V and VI ships only. Along with the aforementioned rules, each Operation will have specific restrictions on the number of same-type warships that can enter the same battle—for example, if three battleships in a division have already pressed the "Ready" button, the fourth battleship will be unable to do so. The limits are the following:

  • Aircraft Carriers: from 0 to 1
  • Destroyers: from 0 to 3
  • Battleships: from 0 to 3
  • Cruisers: from 0 to 4

  • Defense of Naval Station Newport: Defend allied shore installations and ships.
  • Operation Aegis: The enemy have intercepted allied transport ships. Your aim is to secure the perimeter and rescue the captured ships.
  • Operation Killer Whale: Carry out a daring attack on the enemy base!
  • Saving Carrier Raptor: Provide assistance to an aircraft carrier in distress.

How do I participate in an Operation?

The battle type selection menu has received a new interface. The "Scenarios" mode icon displays the last selected Operation or the Operation of the Week, if you haven't already selected any other scenario. To switch between Operations, press the "Other Operations" button.

Operation "Defense of Naval Station Newport" will be the first Operation to be available upon version 0.6.6's release. Access to the remaining operations will be granted in running order (each locked operation will display the date of its activation) and become the "Operation of the Week" until the next Operation has been unlocked. The player can complete the unlocked Scenarios again, but only as a member of an Extended Division (up to seven players).

Operation of the Week

If you want to start the battle right away without assembling a Division, take the following steps to participate in an Operation:

  1. Select the Operation of the Week. The ships carousel will filter and display only the ships suitable for this mode.
  2. Choose a ship out of those suitable for the selected Operation.
  3. Press the "Battle!" button. You will be placed in a queue and will have to wait until the Matchmaker assembles your team.

If you wish to play the Scenario Mode together with your friends, you can assemble a special Division. In this case you'll need a special Extended Division that allows up to seven players to take part in one battle. Take these steps to play in an Extended Division:

  1. Select the Operation of the Week. The ships carousel will filter and display all the ships suitable for this scenario.
  2. Create Division and invite players.
  3. You can enable the "do not complete team" option in order to enter the battle with insufficient team numbers.
  4. Press the "Ready" button.
  5. As soon as all the participants (including the player who created the Division) are ready, the Division Commander can press the "Battle!" button.
  6. If the Division is incomplete, and the "do not complete team" option is turned off, you are placed in a queue and the Matchmaker will add random players to complete your team.

Other Operations

Groups of friends and those who like real challenges can play other operations of their choice if they have been unlocked. To do that, take the following steps:

  1. Select an Operation. The ships carousel will filter and display all the ships suitable for this scenario.
  2. Create Division of at least 4 players.
  3. Press the "Ready" button".
  4. As soon as all the participants (including the player who created the Division) are ready the Division Commander can press the "Battle!" button and send the team into the battle.

If you selected the Operation of the Week and if the "do not complete team" option is disabled, the Matchmaker will complete the team. If your Division consists of 4 players or more, all modes except for Scenario Mode will become unavailable until your Division has 3 players at the most.

Rewards and in-game Economics

Each Operation includes main tasks and additional tasks.

  • The player earns a star for successfully completing each additional task provided, along with the main task.
  • The reward will be issued only once per Player based on the number of earned stars.

For example:

  • You completed the Operation with 2 stars and received 2 rewards – one for each of the stars. You completed the same Operation for the second time with 3 stars. In this case you will receive a reward only for the third star, as rewards for the first and second stars have already been issued to you.
  • You completed the Operation with the maximum possible number of stars (In this case, 5 stars). In this case you will receive 5 sets of rewards, but you will not be given any rewards for another completion of the same operation with any number of stars. You will receive credits and XP earned in each battle.

The amount of XP and credits also depends on the number of earned stars and your personal battle performance.

On average, your earnings will exceed those typically received in Co-op Battles but will be lower than the earnings received in Random Battles.

Achievements and Medals

Operations offer their own commemorative Achievements and Medals:

Have a certain amount of allied ships survive in operations. Only victorious battles are counted:

New Interface

You will notice new interfaces in battle:

  • Scenario markers - located above the areas in 3D world and on the Minimap
  • Scenario indicators - located above the objects in 3D world and on the Minimap
  • Different indicators, for example, progress bar (the so-called "trolley" you may have seen in Halloween mode "Saving Transylvania") or Hit Points of the scenario unit

Voice Communication

Voice communication is available for both Extended and Standard Divisions. Turn it on and configure it in the "Audio" tab. By default, voice communication is activated by pressing the "V" button.

When a battle is over, the ship you joined it with will assume the "Waiting for Order" status and will be unavailable in the Operations mode for 30 minutes. Unlocking the ship (i.e. giving it a new order) immediately costs 75,000 Credits. A 30 minute countdown starts when the operation is finished and the ship returns from the battle. This timer increases the variety of gameplay and team line-ups in battle. Only three or more Tier V-VI ships in Port is enough so that the player is not affected by the timer. By trying several ships, players will be able to choose the right ships to complete any operation with 5 stars.

In Operations, you'll find:

  • New type of destructible onshore facilities – these structures cannot cause damage to the player's ships and can be destroyed.
  • New forts – they remain in a suppressed state once suppressed, but they can still be recovered with the help of your allies.
  • Special scenario ships.

Two of the Operations will feature a new mechanic – the Repair Zone.

The process of delivering fire from the main battery and secondary battery at the onshore installations has been improved.

AI performance has been significantly improved. Now, the bots select targets more reasonably, they demonstrate smarter behaviour, and they can send messages in battle chat. These bots are available only in the Operations battle type, the Co-op Battle still uses the old version bots.

In Operations, friendly fire is disabled. The only way to damage an ally is by ramming. Apart from that, players' ships have a 0% chance of detonation.

This version of the game will not provide separate statistics for this mode in a player's profile.

New Level in the Service Record

With the introduction of the Operations mode, a new level will be added to the Service Record. It will be placed in the current progress sequence of Service Record levels under Level 8.

The reward for achieving this Service Record Level is 1,000,000 credits. The rewards for achieving the other Service Record Levels remain unchanged.

The XP amount values for achieving the proceeding levels in the Service Record have been revised. Now, the player needs to earn 3,000 XP to achieve the next level in the Service Record for the following levels: Level 5 to Level 6, Level 6 to Level 7, Level 7 to Level 8, and Level 8 to Level 9.

When update 0.6.6 is released, all players who have achieved Level 7 and above in the Service Record and those who have earned at least 7,500 XP at Level 5 in the Service Record will be given 1,000,000 credits as a reward for achieving newly introduced Level.

In other words, if players have already reached Level 14 in the Service Record, they will still be rewarded with 1,000,000 Credits.

Balance Changes

The main advantages and disadvantages of the guns mounted on German cruisers are the great damage potential of their AP shells and the tiny damage delivered by their HE shells. In situations where you find yourself fighting against lightly-armoured targets that take damage even from a shot in the bow, or when an enemy ship has exposed her side to you, German AP shells cause devastating damage. Unlike the U.S. 203 mm shells, German APs cannot boast the same "soft" ricochet angles, and given the minor damage coming from HE shells, German cruisers are sometimes less efficient. For example, when firing at a heavy cruiser going at a 45° angle in relation to the German ship. We therefore decided to compensate for the small damage caused by HE shells by increasing their armour-penetration capability, thereby bringing German cruisers in line with other same-type ships in terms of performance. We also added some minor yet very pleasant changes to Nürnberg, Hindenburg, Emerald, and La Galissonniere.

  • Increased the armour penetration capability of HE shells for the following cruisers: Karlsruhe, Königsberg, Nürnberg, Yorck, Admiral Hipper, Prinz Eugen, Roon, and Hindenburg. Now, HE shell penetration values are calculated as 1/4 of a shell’s calibre (against 1/6 of shell calibre in version 0.6.5).
  • Nürnberg: Now has full circular rear turret rotation.
  • Hindenburg: The ship's magazines are now fully protected from large-calibre HE shells explosions.
  • Emerald: Changed the thickness of the ship's hull armour plating from 10 mm to 13 mm.
  • La Galissonniere: Reload time of main calibre guns has been decreased from 10 seconds to 9.

Japanese destroyer Yūgumo used to perform a bit worse when compared to its other Tier IX counterparts. This was largely due to a limited choice of torpedoes which forced players into aggressive short-range play only. Not everyone finds this style of play comfortable. Therefore, we added "Type 93 mod. 3" torpedoes with a 12 km range to provide an option for a longer and less risky engagement range.

In update 0.6.6, we enhanced the Hydroacoustic Search consumable carried by Lo Yang. Now, it is a full-fledged attacker that is even more valuable for allies. We increased the torpedoes and ships acquisition ranges from 2.52 km to 3.75 km and from 3.48 km to 5.43 km, respectively. We also increased the torpedo range of the "533 mm Mk15 mod. 0" from 6.0 km to 6.7 km.

  • Yūgumo: Added an option to mount Type93 mod. 3 torpedoes.
  • Lo Yang: Increased the acquisition range for the ship's Hydroacoustic Search consumable and the range of her 533 mm Mk31 torpedoes.
    • Acquisition Range of Torpedoes: from 2.52 to 3.75 km
    • Acquisition Range of Ships: from 3.48 to 5.43 km
    • Torpedo Range of "533 mm Mk15 mod. 0": from 6.0 to 6.7 km

Fixed errors in the values attributable to deck armour thickness as follows:

  • Fletcher, Benson, Shimakaze, Yūgumo and Kagero – changed to equal 19 mm
  • Sims, Mahan, Farragut, Shiratsuyu, Hatsuharu and Fubuki – changed to equal 16 mm

Montana, Iowa and Missouri: Lowered citadel, with an upper level now nearly at waterline level to promote more active play and manoeuvre. It will now be harder to hit their citadel.

The freed space from the citadels has been occupied by casemates that increased their volume. Therefore, there was a small hit points redistribution—part of them has evenly moved from the fore and aft ends of the superstructures to the central part of the ship (casemates).

Aircraft Carrier

There has been an on-going issue where the ships with minor detectability would be spotted by aircraft even though the aircraft itself was out of sight. This was caused by a single plane having a shorter detectability range than an entire squadron. We came to a decision that this mechanic was excessive and now all aircraft (whether carrier squadrons, catapult-lunched fighters, or spotting aircraft) will have the same detectability range. Aside from that, aircraft detectability range was increased from 5 to 8 km (from sea) and from 4.5 to 7 km (from air).

In response to numerous requests from our players, we increased the daily limit for compliments and reports. Now, once a player has achieved a certain Karma level, their daily limit will also increase:

Karma Level Limit on reports and compliments
0 - 19 7 reports and 7 compliments
20 - 49 8 reports and 8 compliments
50 - 79 9 reports and 9 compliments
80 - 109 10 reports and 10 compliments
>110 11 reports and 11 compliments

Once the update goes live, a respective limit of reports and compliments will be assigned to players depending on their Karma level.

We added one more report option – "Interferes with my game". The "Bot" report is gone and was replaced by "Away from keyboard/AFK" while "Assisted in chat" was changed to "Good manners".

The sound has been significantly reworked in version 0.6.6.

  • A second layer for interactive music has been added in the "battle" mode. It is activated as the distance to the nearest enemy ship decreases. This layer includes the percussions and various sound effects (bass volume increase/decrease, cymbals). As the distance to the enemy ships increases, the battle music returns to its initial condition.
  • Added new music tracks: Main theme, several multi-layer tracks for the "Detected" state, several tracks for battle countdown timer, new tracks in the Port. Added tracks to be played in battle.
  • Improved weather sounds and environment sound effects in battle.
  • Improved the sound effects for ship floodings.
  • Implemented new additional sound effects of the camera movements for all battleships.
  • Added and improved environment sound effects in ports.
  • Added Italian voiceovers and Italian "national" voiceover modification.
  • Steven Seagal voiceovers will be activated the same way as the other modifications. When you enter the battle with the ship under command of Steven Seagal, the respective voiceovers will be loaded automatically. Steven Seagal voiceovers become available as a modification only if the player has this commander in Port. Players can select Steven Seagal voiceovers from the list of modifications.
  • Updated the sound engine to version WWISE (2016.2.1 build 5995), and all official modifications are now in the .wem format. Mod pack developers should use the specified version of WWISE, starting from update 0.6.6, in order to ensure the correct operation of the mod packs.
  • Now the modifications of the voiceovers are available in .mp3 format, and the principle remains the same. The updated folder structure will be published on the forum.
  • New preset of sound quality - ULTRA HIGH (available via the launcher).
    • New intensified sounds of gun fire.
    • Vibrant post effects of shell hits.
    • Distance-specific sound delays: the greater the distance, the longer the delay for the sounds of explosions, hits and shots.
    • Increased the 'reach of sound' distance for battle sounds.
    • Set maximum quality for the conversion of a number of frequent sounds.

This new preset will be further developed and improved.

Installation guide:

At the start of the download, players will be asked if they want to install "Ultra". If no actions are made in the launcher window, this message will disappear in one minute and the download will continue. If you have refused to install Ultra, missed the message, or would like to return to the previous sound quality, you can do so at any time in the "Main" tab in launcher settings.

For the Wargaming.net Game Centre (WGC), it will be possible to install Ultra via the settings in the World of Warships tab. To do so, please choose "ULTRA" client type in the "Game Settings" menu.

Improvements and Fixes

  • Added an intermediate option for the Alternative battle interface mode. Now, it has three settings: Off, Adaptive and Full. Unlike Full, the Adaptive option will show extended information about the ships in three instances – when capturing a target, at the specific distance from your ship (approximately 6.7 km), and for a group of ships that fall into the viewing range of your binoculars, depending on the zoom. A minor change was also made to the way configuration options are arranged in the "Controls" tab.
  • Fixed the incorrect displaying of "clean battles" in the post-battle statistics screen. Before the release of Update 0.6.6, smaller amount of "clean battles" were displayed than was actually required to remove the Team Killer status. For example, if a player saw 10 battles were required in the post-battle statistics screen, but in reality the requirement was 20, the team killer status was removed after 20 clean battles. Now the correct number of clean battles required to remove "pink" status is displayed.
  • Shimakaze, Shiratsuyu: Reworked the racks used to fix cables to the main guns.
  • Lexington: The survivability of steering gears in the stock ship configuration was brought in line with that of the ship itself.
  • Algérie, Saint-Louis: Improved the ships' exterior while in the Port.
  • Hood: Fixed the display of the ship's emblem of the main gun turret after a camouflage has been applied.
  • G-101: Fixed the torpedo tube sectors. For the starboard single torpedo tube, the aiming sector has been reduced by 10 degrees to match that of the port torpedo tube, while the aiming sector of the twin-tube torpedo launchers was increased by 12 degrees towards the stern.
  • Udaloi: Corrected the names of both torpedo modules.
  • Orlan: Fixed the flickering on the visible armour.
  • St. Louis: Fixed the bug in the casemate armour. This change will not affect the gameplay.
  • Amagi: Fixed the armour of the conning tower. This change will not affect the gameplay.
  • New Mexico: fixed a bug where the firing range exceeded the maximum visibility range if a spotter airplane was in the air. Now in such cases, its visibility range is 22.4 km.
  • Fixed the location of the collections window for resolutions of 2000 or more.
  • Fixed a bug which caused incorrect display of the "Hunt for Bismarck" achievement in special achievements group.
  • Fixed the text displayed for the Right Windows button when it is assigned in Settings.
  • Fixed the display of the number of daily tasks when the number of tasks exceeds 10.
  • Fixed certain instances of memory leaks in the game client.
  • Fixed the bug with a black screen displayed when launching the game client.
  • Fixed the bug that caused the game client to crash when closing the browser that displayed a player's Profile when accessed from the Clan portal.
  • Fixed a number of errors that caused hang up during the pre-battle loading.
  • Slightly optimised the ship loading when they are detected for the first time.
  • Fixed the bug with the "Battle" button being inactive after a division has been dismissed in port.
  • Fixed the bug that caused players without a division to get stuck in the battle queue if the server is overloaded. Now, players see a notification in the event the server is overloaded.
